Manchester United and Nottingham Forest face off on Tuesday in an English Premier League showdown at Old Trafford. The last time these two teams faced off was in 1999 and Manchester United won that game 8-1. 

Manchester United comes into this game sitting in 5th place in the standings having picked up 26 points. On December 21st against Burnely in the EFL Cup they were able to secure a 2-0 victory. Manchester United had 56 percent of the possession and six shots on goal. Christian Eriksen scored in the 27th minute and Marcus Rashford scored in the 57th minute. Axel Tuanzebe is still dealing with an injury and won’t be able to go in this game. Lisandro Martínez and Raphael Varane are both major doubts after playing in the World Cup Final. Harry Maguire is also a major unknown heading into this game. In this game, Manchester United needs to be the team that pushes the number forward. 

On the other side of this matchup is Nottingham Forest, who sit in 18th place in the standings having picked up 13 points. Last Wednesday, Nottingham Forest faced off against Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Cup, and they were able to secure a 4-1 victory. Brennan Johnson had two goals to pace the squad. Dean Henderson isn’t going to be able to play in this game because they are facing his parent club. Serge Aurier, Gibbs-White, and Wayne Hennessey are all dealing with injuries, and it’s unclear if they are going to be able to go in this game. Jesse Lingard is expected to start here, and he’s going to be motivated to find success against his former team. 

Manchester United is a little banged up heading into this game, but they are still the much better team in this game. Manchester United were able to beat Burnely 2-0 in the last game, and they are going to find the same type of success here.
