Napoli vs. Liverpool 9/7/22 UEFA Champions League Soccer Pick, Predictions, Odds

Napoli and Liverpool face off on Wednesday in a Group A UEFA Champions League game at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Napoli currently sits in second place in Serie A having picked up 11 points so far this season. In the last game against Lazio, Napoli scored two goals and that was enough to secure the victory. Napoli had actually fallen behind in the 4th minute, but they were mostly dominant after falling behind. Napoli has scored 12 goals total, while their defense has given up four goals. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been the top player so far this season, scoring four goals and adding another assist. Napoli might have won over the weekend, but they did lose Hirving Lozano and that is a big loss for the team, especially for this game. Diego Demme is also dealing with a broken foot, and he won’t be able to go in this game. 

On the other side of this matchup is Liverpool who sit in 7th place in the Premier League having picked up nine points this season. Outside of the game where Liverpool scored nine goals, they haven’t looked all that impressive. In Liverpool’s last game against Everton, they had 23 shots and eight shots on goal, but they couldn’t find the back of the net. Liverpool has scored 15 goals, while their defense has given up six goals. Luis Diaz has scored three goals and Roberto Firmino has scored three goals and added another three assists. Liverpool were already without Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Jordan Henderson, and now it looks like they might be without Fabio Carvalho, who is dealing with a dead leg. 

I really don’t trust this Liverpool offense, especially with how many injuries they are dealing with right now. I really don’t trust Liverpool to score more than a goal, and that isn’t going to be enough to get it done against Napoli. The Liverpool defense is going to show off some glaring holes, and Napoli will secure the win. Back Napoli on the money line.
