Paraguay is hosting Ecuador at Estadio Antonio Oddone Sarubbi in round 17 of the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifications. Paraguay has had terrible qualifications, they haven’t won any of their last 6 games, and they will not be going to the World Cup. Ecuador is pretty much safe, but with a point here, they will qualify for sure.

Ecuador has been impressive in these qualifications I gotta admit, and they are in 3^rd place with 25 points. With a point in this game, Ecuador will secure their World Cup spot, and with some favorable results from other games, even a loss will be good for them. Offensively, Ecuador is the second-best team in these qualifications with 25 scored goals, and when you are going against Brazil and Argentina that is saying a lot. Even Ecuador’s defense has been great so far with 15 conceded goals in 16 games. After this, Ecuador is playing against Argentina at home, which is why I think they will try to get a positive result here, and then go all out in that game against Argentina. Estrada is the leading goalscorer for Ecuador with 6 goals, while Valencia and Plata have added 3 goals each. Overall, a very impressive performance from Ecuador in these qualifications, and they have completely deserved to qualify for the World Cup.

Paraguay hasn’t won any of their last 7 games, while Ecuador hasn’t lost any of their last 7 games. Paraguay has won only 1 home game in these qualifications, but I think they could get a point here. I think this could be a tough game, and I will take a first-half draw here.
