Rangers vs. Napoli 9/14/22 UEFA Champions League Soccer Pick, Predictions, Odds

The Rangers and Napoli face off on Wednesday in a UEFA Champions League Group A showdown at Ibrox Stadium. 

Napoli comes into this game tied for first place in Group A having picked up three points. In the first game of the Champions League, Napoli faced off against Liverpool, and they were able to secure a 4-1 victory. Piotr Zielenski looked wonderful, scoring in the 5th and 47th minute. Napoli only had 38 percent of the possession, but they were still able to get the job done. On Saturday, they were able to score a goal against Spezi, and that led to the victory. Victor Osimhen is dealing with a thigh strain and will be out for a while. Kim Min-jae and Piotr Zielinski should also come back in the starting lineup. In this game, the Napoli offense needs to get on the board again early. 

On the other side of this matchup is the Rangers, who sit in 3rd place in the standings, having picked up zero points. The Rangers faced off against Ajax in the first game in the Champions League, and they were defeated in that game 4-0. The Rangers only had 24 percent of the possession and one shot on target. The defense gave up three goals in the first half, and they couldn’t bounce back as they were defeated. Two games ago, against the Celtic, the Rangers were defeated 4-0. Goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin has struggled the last few games, but he is expected to be the starter again in this game. There is a ton of pressure on him, though, and they need him to be good here. 

This Rangers defense has really struggled heading into this game, and they are going to have some majors of issue again here. Napoli scored four goals in the last game, and although they might not score that many here, they are going to score at least a couple of goals. The Rangers’ offense is going to have no answer, and that is going to be the difference as Napoli gets the job done. Back Napoli on the money line.
