Sassuolo vs Fiorentina 2/26/22 Serie A Soccer Pick, Predictions, and Odds

Sassuolo and Fiorentina are clashing at Mapei Stadium in round 27 of the Italian Serie A. Sassuolo have just shut out Inter, but I think that had to do more with Inter than Sassuolo’s defense. Fiorentina is on a 3-game winning streak, and even though they haven’t been scoring a lot, their defense has been solid.

Sassuolo has ended their streak without a win, and they ended it against Inter on the road, which was impressive. With 33 points, Sassuolo is now in 11^th place, they are far away from the Europa League, but they are also far away from the relegation zone. Offensively, Sassuolo has scored 43 goals, but their defense is just horrible. Sassuolo has conceded 44 goals so far this season. Berardi and Scamacca have been playing well for Sassuolo so far this season, and they have each scored 10 goals. Berardi has also added 11 assists. Obiang, Djuricic, and Toljan are all injured. Sassuolo is a good team, they play attractive soccer, but they can’t defend if their life depends on it. If they can keep their offense, Sassuolo must work on their defense for next season, and maybe then they can go for the Europa League.

As I’ve mentioned, Fiorentina is now on a 3-game winning streak, they have scored 6 goals during that streak, but they have conceded 3 goals. A positive thing I guess is that Fiorentina has kept a clean sheet in their last game against Atalanta. Thanks to this amazing streak, without Vlahovic I might add, Fiorentina is in 7^th place with 42 points, and they are very close to the Europa League. I thought that without Vlahovic Fiorentina will struggle, but Piatek has scored 4 goals in their last 3 games, and he has stepped up quite nicely. Gonzalez and Bonaventura have each added 4 assists. Terracciano and Torreira are still questionable for this game, but they could be in the lineup. It’s good that Fiorentina is now on a winning streak because they have a few tough games ahead, including the Coppa Italia match against Juventus.

We usually see goals in this matchup, especially when Sassuolo was the home team. With the terrible defense Sassuolo has, they will concede for sure, but they have the offense to score a lot of goals. I will take goals on both sides here.
