Wales and Iran face off on Friday in a Group B World Cup Soccer showdown at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.

Iran currently sits in 4th place in the group, having picked up zero points. Iran faced off against England to kick off their World Cup, and it was an ugly game. For the first 34 minutes, they had a clean sheet, but after the 35th minute they gave up six goals. Mehdi Taremi did have a nice game, scoring twice for Iran, but they were never really in the game. Iran had 21 percent of the possession and three shots on target. Goalie Alireza Beiranvand suffered a concussion in the first game, and he won’t be able to go in this game. Outside of that, Iran looks like they will be starting a similar lineup.

Wales currently sits tied for second place in the group, having picked up one point. Wales faced off against the United States in Game 1, and it ended in a 1-1 draw. In the first half, they were on their back foot, but in the second half they looked better. Gareth Bale scored the goal in the 82nd minute to secure a draw. Wales finished the game with 41 percent of the possession and three shots on goal. Kieffer Moore came off the bench in the last game and had a big impact. There is a chance that he could move into the starting line up here. Ethan Ampadu is also dealing with an ankle injury and there is a chance he won’t be able to go in this game.

Iran’s defense struggled in the first games, but facing England and facing Wales is a lot different. This Wales offense isn’t as good, and they aren’t going to find as much success scoring in this game. Look for this game to be a 1-0 or 1-1 type of game, and the under is going to cash. Back the under 2.5 goals.
