Argentina and Brazil face off on Tuesday in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier at Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario. This is one of the biggest rivalries in the world and there will probably be plenty of chippiness between the two teams. The last time these two teams faced off the game was delayed because of COVID issues.
Argentina currently sits in second place in the standings having picked up 28 points. The god news for Argentina in this game is they will have Lionel Messi and they are going to need him to have a big game in this one. Each of the last two games for Argentina have been 1-0 games, and the offense needs to have more production going forward. Against Uruguay it was Angel Di Maria that scored a goal in the 7th minute. THe defense locked down after that, and they came away with the easy victory. Having Messi is a big boost for this squad, but he can’t push too hard to try and find the back of the net.
On the other side of this matchup is Brazil who currently sits in 1st place in the standings having picked up 34 points. The big news for Brazil in this game is they won’t have Neymar. Brazil has found a lot of success this season but in the last game against Columbia they only won 1-0. It was Lucas Paquetta that scored the goal in the 72nd minute to come away with the victory. Brazil is a talented roster with a ton of goal scorers but they haven’t been running up the score as of late. In this game Brazil needs to get the first goal and really put some pressure on Argentina. ,
Having Messi is exactly the boost that Argentina needs to get the job done. Look for Messi to score at least one goal, and Brazil will have all kinds of issues finding the back of the net. Back Argentina to win on the money line. I am also throwing a few dollars on Argentina to win 1-0.
