Argentina is hosting Chile at Estadio Monumental Vespucio Liberti in round 7 of the South American World Cup qualifications.

Argentina has been playing really well, and that is not even their best. Argentina is the best team in South America in my opinion, and with players like Messi, Aguero, Martinez, Ocampos, Di Maria, Correa, and a bunch more, they seem unbeatable. Argentina is now in 2nd place in the World Cup qualification standings with 10 points, which is 2 points less than Brazil at the top. Argentina has 3 wins and a draw in their first 4 games in these qualifications, and they have scored 6 goals while conceding only 2 goals so far. Gonzalez and Martinez have each scored 2 goals for Argentina, while Messi has been more focused on creating chances and assisting. Argentina was playing against Peru in their last game, and they have had 48% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and a decent 82% of the correct passes. This was a rough game, but Argentina was the better team here, and they have scored 2 goals in the first half, which was enough for a 0-2 win. Alongside Brazil, Argentina is the biggest favorite to win Copa America, but they need to focus on these qualifications first.

Chile has been hot and cold so far, but who knows, maybe this long break will have a positive effect on them. Chile is outside the World Cup zone at the moment, in 6th place with 4 points, 6 scored goals, and 6 conceded goals, but there is plenty of time for them to climb the standings. In their last game in these qualifications, Chile was playing against Venezuela on the road, and they were solid with 65% of ball possession, 1 shot on goal, 5 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 86% of the correct passes. Chile was sloppy in this game, especially on the defensive end, and they ended up losing this game 2-1. There is a lot of talent in this team with Sanchez, Vidal, Pulgar, and Orellana, but Chile is just not a good team at the moment. Vidal has been in good form in these qualifications with 4 scored goals, while Sanchez added 2 goals, but Vidal is just coming back from an injury, and he is still questionable for this game. Chile is a solid team, and they are good enough to qualify for the World Cup, but I think they have a lot of work to do to catch up to Brazil and Argentina.

Argentina has not lost to Chile in their last 5 home games. Argentina is the better team here, they are in better form, and they have more talent on their roster, and Argentina has Messi. Chile can beat any team they play against, but I’m siding with Argentina in this one.
