Arsenal and Chelsea face off on Sunday in an English Premier League showdown at Emirates Stadium. These two teams faced off in a friendly on August 1st and it was Chelsea that was able to win 2-1.
There are a lot of expectations and pressure surrounding this Arsenal team this season, but they didn’t get off to a strong start. Arsenal faced off with Brentford and although they controlled the ball most of the game, they didn’t do enough with their chances and that led to the 2-0 defeat. The first goal was given up in the 22nd minute and another goal was given up in the 73rd minute and that led to the defeat. Arsenal had 22 shots but only four were on goal and that led to the defeat. Arsenal did have 65 percent of the possession. In this game, Arsenal is going to need to have more quality shots. They can’t be taking 22 shots again and only have four go on goal.
On the other side of this matchup is Chelsea who started off their season against Crystal Palace, and they were dominant. Chelsea only allowed one shot on goal, and their offense scored three goals, which was enough to dominate the victory. Marcos Alonso opened up the scoring in the 27th minute. Christian Pulisic and Trevor Chalobah also added goals. Chelsea finished that game with 13 shots and six of those shots went on goal. In this game for Chelsea, it’s going to be about that offense being good again. If the offense is strong early and gets the first goal, that might be enough for Arsenal to fold.
Arsenal’s defense is clearly an issue, and Chelsea is going to have no issue getting the job done in this game. Look for Chelsea to run up the score and win this game on the money line. I am also throwing a few dollars on Chelsea -1.5.
