Aston Villa and Burnley face off on Saturday in an English Premier League showdown at Villa Park. When these two teams faced off in January of 2021 it was Burnley that came away with the 3-2 victory.
Aston Villa currently sits in 10th place in the standings having picked up 22 points. Aston Villa has won two of their last three games including their last game against Norwich City. Jacob Ramsey opened up the scoring in the 34th minute and Ollie Watkins added another goal in the 87th minute to seal the victory. Aston Villa had 47 percent of the possession. On the season they have scored 23 goals while their defense has given up 25 goals total. Ollie Watkins has been the best player for Aston Villa scoring five goals and adding another assist. John McGinn has also scored three goals and added two assists.
On the other side of this matchup is Burnley who sits in 18th place in the standings having picked up 11 points. Burnley has played to draws in two of their last three games but over those last three games they have failed to find the back of the net. The last game came last Sunday against West Ham and they only managed one shot on goal in that game. Burnley has scored 14 goals total while their defense has given up 21 goals. Maxwel Cornet has been the top player for Burnley scoring five goals. Chris Wood has been the second-best player scoring three goals. In this game, they need to find a way to get the offense going.
Burnley’s offense hasn’t been good, but their defense has been strong and goals are going to be very hard to come by for both teams in this game. I expect very few scoring chances, and this game is going to be very low scoring. Back the under.
