Barcelona and Real Madrid are clashing at Camp Nou in the El Clasico of round 10 in the Spanish LaLiga. Barcelona has finally gotten a win in the Champions League, but they are still far away from the optimal form. Real Madrid has lost their last LaLiga game, but they bounced back nicely in the Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk.
Barcelona is in 7th place in LaLiga now with 15 points, only 14 scored goals, and 8 conceded goals, and they are not playing really well. Until the game against Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League earlier this week, Barcelona was winless and scoreless, but they were able to get a win here. Barcelona was dominant with 62% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 11 corner kicks, 5 big chances created, and 88% of the correct passes. As I’ve mentioned, Barcelona is not scoring a lot, and having a million back passes contributes to that a lot. Luckily for Barcelona, they were able to score 1 goal, and they have won this game 1-0. In LaLiga, Depay is the leading goalscorer with 4 goals for Barcelona, while Fati, Roberto, and Braithwaite added 2 goals. Braithwaite, Araujo, Pedri, and Wague are all injured, while Dembele is still questionable. Maybe now that Aguero is healthy Barcelona will create more chances and score more goals, and they will definitely need to do that if they want to get back to the top or advance past the group stage in the Champions League.
After a series of poor results, and after being without a win for 3 straight games, Real Madrid has had a fantastic match against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League earlier this week. Real has had 58% of ball possession in that game, impressive 10 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, 4 big chances created, and a high 92% of the correct passes. With the hurricane of offense in the second half, Real Madrid has scored 4 goals, and they have deservedly won this game 0-5 on the road. Thanks to this win, Real Madrid has kept the top spot in this group, and they will most likely stay there until the end of group stage. As far as LaLiga goes. Real Madrid is in 3rd place with 17 points, but they have scored 22 goals so far, and they are the best offensive team in the league. Real Madrid is playing well, Ancelotti is doing a great job with what he has, and Benzema has been a force to be reckoned with this season.
This is the first El Clasico in over 10 years without Messi or Ronaldo, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any great players playing. We still have Benzema, Kroos, Modric, and Hazard on one side, and Pique, De Jong, Depay, and Busquets on the other side. I think this will be a great game where we will see a lot of chances because neither team is doing well defensively, and I think we will see goals.
