Borussia M’gladbach vs. VfL Bochum 10/31/21 Bundesliga Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Borussia M’gladbach is hosting VfL Bochum at Borussia-Park in round 10 of the German Bundesliga. Borussia has lost only 1 of their last 4 Bundesliga game, but what they did in the DFB Pokal earlier this week was amazing. Bochum was able to string a couple of wins together in Bundesliga, but they are still far from being safe.

Borussia was playing against Bayern Munich in the DFB Pokal earlier this week, and they have had only 38% of ball possession, but 7 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, 6 big chances created, and 74% of the correct passes. These are usually the stats of the team that losses to Bayern, but Borussia was impressive in the attacking end in this game, while their defense was solid as a rock. Borussia has won this game 5-0. As far as Bundesliga goes, Borussia M’gladbach is now in 12th place with 11 points, and they have scored only 10 goals in 9 games. Defensively, Borussia has been decent so far with only 12 conceded goals, and if they can get just a bit more consistent, they could get back in the Champions League hunt. Hofmann is the leading goalscorer for Borussia with 3 goals. Doucoure, Lainer, Kramer, Beyer, and Jantscheke are all injured. The next few games for Borussia are on the easier side, but they haven’t been playing that well this season for them to call the upcoming games easy, not even close.

With these 2 wins in Bundesliga, Bochum has climbed out of the relegation zone, and they are now in 14th place with 10 points, but the season is far from over. Bochum is one of the weakest offensive teams in the league with only 7 scored goals, while their defense was struggling to keep the ball out of their net. Bochum has conceded 16 goals so far. In their last Bundesliga game against Eintracht last weekend, Bochum was solid with 41% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 7 big chances created, and only 64% of the correct passes. Luckily for Bochum, Eintracht is not playing well in the attacking end this season, which means Bochum’s defense was good enough to stop them. Offensively, Bochum has scored what they could, and they have deservedly won this game 2-0. Zoller and Polter have each scored 2 goals for Bochum so far this season. Bochum does have some injury problems, and despite these two Bundesliga wins in a row, this game, and the rest of the season will be really hard for this team.

M’gladbach is still undefeated at home, and they haven’t lost any of their last 8 home games in a row. As we can see, Bochum can score, but this is the chance for Borussia to keep playing well, and to get more positive results. I’m taking Borussia and goals at home.
