Burnley is hosting Leicester City at Turf Moor in round 22 of the English Premier League. Burnley has woken up, they are undefeated in their last 3 games, and they are close to getting out of the relegation zone. Leicester has been struggling with injuries this season, they are not defending well, but they are scoring goals consistently.
With this nice streak, and with only 1 loss in their last 7 games, Burnley has gotten on the rink of the relegation zone, and they are now only 1 point away from safety. With 21 points, 22 scored goals, and 30 conceded goals, Burnley is in 18th place. As we can see, Burnley’s defense is much better than their offense, and that might be crucial for them to stay in the league. In their last 3 games, Burnley has beaten Brighton, they have beaten Tottenham, and they were close to beating Crystal Palace, but that game has ended in a 1-1 draw. Maxwel Cornet is the leading goalscorer for Burnley with 6 goals, while Westwood and Lowton added 3 assists each. Vydra and Gudmundsson are the only two injured players for Burnley. There is still a lot of work to be done by Burney this season, and even though they are close to safety, they are not there yet.
Leicester can’t defend as I’ve mentioned, but they surely can score goals, a lot of them. Leicester has scored a goal in their last 4 games in a row while failing to score in only 1 game since November. Injuries are still the biggest problem for Leicester, and even though Vardy has been upgraded to questionable, it’s still unknown if he will play. Evans, Bertrand, Fofana, and Castagne are all still injured. Leicester played against Randers in the Conference League last week, and they have won that game 1-3, which secured their spot in the next stage, but they lost to Wolverhampton in the EPL just before that. Vardy is the leading goalscorer for Leicester with 9 goals, while Tielemans and Maddison added 6 goals each. Barnes has 5 assists. This has been a very unfortunate season for Leicester, they were counting on a higher spot, but there is still enough time for them to go for the Europa League spot. I think the Champions League is way out of reach for Leicester, but maybe next season.
Honestly, neither team can defend right now, especially Leicester. Burnley has been playing well, and they could have a good game here, but I will take the over because both teams can score, Leicester in particular.
