Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur face off on Wednesday in an English Premier League showdown at Turf Moor. The last time these two teams faced off was in October of 2021 it was Tottenham that won 1-0.
Burnley currently sits in 19th place in the standings having picked up 17 points. Burnley is having a down season, but they are coming off a big win. In that last game against Brighton the offense was able to score three goals, and that led to the easy victory. Burnley only had 31 percent of the possession and four shots on goal, but three scored, and that was enough to secure the victory. Burnley has scored 20 goals total while their defense has given up 29 goals total. Maxwel Cornet has been the top player scoring six goals. This is an offense that hasn’t been great all season, so scoring three goals in the last game was a very positive step.
On the other side of this matchup is Tottenham Hotspur who currently sits in 8th place in the standings having picked up 39 points. Tottenham hasn’t had the best season, but they are coming off one of their best wins of the season. In the last game against Manchester City, the offense was strong, scoring three goals. It was Harry Kane in the 95th minute that scored his second goal of the night to secure the victory. On the season, Tottenham has scored 31 goals total while their defense has given up 31 goals. Son Heung-Min has been the top player for Tottenham scoring nine goals and adding five assists.
Burnley is coming off a big win, but this is a team that has looked awful this season, and I think they are going to go back to their old ways. Burley is going to struggle to put any goals in the back of the net, and that will be the difference as Tottenham gets the job done. Tottnenham will score at least two goals and win -1.5.
