Club Brugge vs. Benfica Pick– UEFA Champions League Predictions & Odds 2/15/23

Club Brugge and Benfica face off on Wednesday in Leg 1 of the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League at Jan Breydel Stadium.

Club Brugge vs Benfica Odds

Benfica currently sits as the favorite sitting at -120 while Club Brugge currently sits as the underdog sitting at +330. The total in this game sits at 2.5 goals with the over paying out at -115 if it hits.

Club Brugge Betting Preview

Club Brugge finished in second place in Group B having picked up 11 points. Last Friday against Union Saint-Gilloise and that game ended in a 1-1 draw. They fell behind in that game, but Club Brugge had a goal by Hans Vanaken in the 43rd minute. Club Brugge had 57 percent of the possession and four shots on target. Tajon Buchanan, Andreas Skov Olsen, and Ferran Jutgla are all still dealing with injuries and none of the three players are expected to be able to go in this game. Antonio Nusa is one player that could move into the starting lineup with the injuries.

Benfica Betting Preview

On the other side of this matchup is Benfica who finished in 1st place in Group H having picked up 14 points. On Thursday against Braga they were defeated in penalties kick after the regulation team ended in a 1-1 draw. Benfica had 46 percent of the possession and five shots on target, but it wasn’t enough. Benfica has confidence heading into this game and a big reason is that they don’t have anyone who is currently in the training room. Alexander Bah and Morato both picked up red cards last week but neither guy will be suspended for this game, and both could start here. Make sure to check out the other Champions League game on Wednesday between Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.

Shane’s Free Pick

Not many expected Club Brugge to be at this point, but they have played the role of underdog and played it well. In this game, I’m not sure they are going to do enough to win the game, but the defense is going to do enough for them to avoid defeat. Back Club Brugge +0.5 goals to cash.
