Colombia vs. Ecuador 10/14/21 CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifications Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Colombia and Ecuador face off on Thursday in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying showdown at Roberto Meléndez Metropolitan Stadium. When these two teams faced off in July of 2021, Colombia came away with the 1-0 victory.

Ecuador currently sits in third place in the standings having picked up 16 points in 11 games. The only teams in front of them in the standings are Brazil and Argentina. The biggest issue for Ecuador has been with their inconsistency, and the last two games have been a perfect example. Two games ago against Bolivia, Ecuador won 3-0, but in the last game against Venezuela, they were defeated 2-1. The only goal for Ecuador in that game was in the 37th minute on a penalty. In the game earlier this year, the offense had issues scoring, and they need to improve on that in this game.

On the other side of this matchup is Colombia who currently sits in 5th place in the standings having picked up 15 points. Colombia has picked up at least one point in each of their last eight games, and that includes their last game against Brazil. In that game, Colombia only had 36 percent of the possession but they still managed four shots on goal. They also allowed Brazil to only have four shots on goal, which is quite impressive considering they were playing defense most of the match. Each of the last two games has been 0-0 draws. The last win for Colombia came on September 9th against Chile, a game they won 3-1.

Colombia has quite the streak going in terms of picking up points, and it’s going to continue in this game. Look for Colombia to score a few goals, and their defense is going to lockdown. Colombia won’t give up a goal in this game, and the favorite will come away with the victory.
