FC Union Berlin vs. RB Leipzig 12/3/21 Bundesliga Soccer Picks, Best Bets and Odds

FC Union Berlin is hosting RB Leipzig at An der alten Forsterei in round 14 of the German Bundesliga. Union is doing a decent job so far this season, they have lost only 1 of their last 4 games, and they are in 6th place. Leipzig is solid at home, but they are terrible on the road this season, and they are not scoring a lot of goals.

Union has scored 20 goals so far this season, which isn’t bad, but their defense is not great with 19 conceded goals so far. In their last game against Eintracht Frankfurt on the road, Union has had 46% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 75% of the correct passes. Union conceded a goal in the 22nd minute, but they tied the score in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately for Union, they have conceded another goal in the 95th minute, and they ended up losing this game 2-1. Awoniyi is in excellent for Union with 8 scored goals so far. I think it’s pretty safe to say that Union will stay far away from the relegation zone, but I don’t think they have enough depth to compete for the Europa League.

Leipzig is in 8th place with 18 points right now, they have scored 24 goals and conceded 16 goals, but they are still winless on the road this season. Leipzig has also scored only 3 goals so far on the road, and unless they don’t fix that, this could be a bad season for them. Leipzig was hosting Leverkusen in their last game, and it was a great one. Leipzig was slightly better in this game, but that was relative. Leipzig has had 59% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 84% of the correct passes. Despite being a slightly better team in this game, Leipzig has lost this match 1-3. In the Champions League, Leipzig doesn’t have a chance to advance to the next stage, but with a positive result, they will most likely go to the Europa League. Nkunku has scored 5 goals and added 4 assists for Leipzig so far this season, and he will start in this game most likely. The bad news for Leipzig is they have a few injuries, and that will impact their game. Leipzig has expected a lot better season, and they certainly have the quality to do much better, but they aren’t coached well enough in my opinion.

As I’ve mentioned, Leipzig is still without a win on the road, and they are now facing a solid home team. Union is scoring quite a few goals, but they are also conceding. I will take goals on both sides in this one.
