After a 3 games slump, Liverpool is now on a 2-game winning streak. A few weeks ago, Liverpool’s best defender, Van Dijk, got injured, and he will miss the rest of the season, which is a huge blow for Liverpool’s ambitions to defend the EPL title. In their last EPL game, Liverpool was hosting Sheffield United, and they conceded a goal from a penalty kick that should have never been a penalty kick in the first place, but Liverpool was able to turn the game around, and they have won this match 2-1. In their Champions League game last week, Liverpool was playing against Ajax on the road, and they have had 52% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 9 corner kicks, 0 big chances created, and 75% of the correct passes. Liverpool has won this game 0-1 with Ajax’s own goal in the 35th minute. Alongside Van Dijk, Oxlade-Chamberlain is also injured, while their starting goalkeeper Alisson is ready to play. Liverpool is playing well, but they are not as nearly dominant as they were last season, and I think Liverpool will have a very hard time defending the EPL title. As far as the Champions League go, Liverpool will advance past the group stage, and maybe a stage after that, but I don’t see them winning the title.

Midtjylland has gotten to the Champions League through the qualifications, and I don’t think they will have much success in this competition. In the Danish Superligaen, Midtjylland is in second place with 13 points, 10 scored goals, and 7 conceded goals in the first 6 games. Midtjylland has won their most recent match in the Superligaen against Brondby on the road. In their match against Atalanta in the Champions League last week, Midtjylland has had 47% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 81% of the correct passes. Midtjylland just doesn’t have the quality or depth to compete in the Champions League, and they have lost that game 0-4 at home. Riis and Olsen are the only two injured players for Midtjylland, and they will not be playing in this game. Midtjylland has barely created any chances in their Champions League match, and while they are probably the best team in Denmark, the defense is what was the best part of their game last season, and we are not seeing that defense this season. I just don’t see Midtjylland doing anything in the Champions League this season.

Liverpool is missing their best defender, but that shouldn’t matter here because Midtjylland doesn’t have the quality to create decent attacks. Liverpool is in solid form, and their morale is high after their last two wins. Liverpool is a huge favorite in this match, and it’s hard to find a decent market to bet this game, but I will stick with Liverpool and goals.
