Lyon vs. PSG 1/9/22 Ligue 1 Soccer Pick, Predictions, and Odds

Lyon and PSG are clashing at Groupama Stadium in round 20 of the French Ligue 1. Lyon has been decent this season, far from great, but they have been playing better as of late. PSG is still at the top. but they tend to be very sloppy in some of their games, and they have a lot of injuries right now.

Lyon hasn’t won or lost any of their last 5 games, which means they are on a 5-game draw streak, but they have played against some solid teams in those games. Not winning games sucks, but I guess tying is better than losing. With only 24 points, Lyon is in low 13th place, and it looks like they won’t be playing in Europe next season unless, of course, they win the Europa League this season. the biggest problem for Lyon right now is they have a few players in the African Cup of Nations, and they can’t afford that right now. Lyon’s goal difference right now is 0 as they have both scored and conceded 26 goals. With 6 goals and 3 assists, Paqueta has been the best player for Lyon so far this season, while Ekambi added 5 goals. Alongside players who went to play in Africa, Lyon has a few injured players as well. The situation doesn’t look well for Lyon right now, and I think they will need to make a lot of changes when this season is over.

PSG is undefeated in their last 8 games, while winning 5 of those 8 games, but they haven’t won in their last Ligue 1 game. As far as the Ligue 1 standings go, PSG is still at the top with 46 points, which is 10 points more than Marseille, and I think PSG will stay there until the end of the season. I know PSG looks very bad on the defensive end, but somehow, they have conceded only 17 goals in 19 games, while their offense was scoring a lot at the start of the season, but they have cooled off since. Mbappe has scored 10 goals and added 9 assists for PSG so far this season, but apparently, he is very close to leaving PSG. There is a big concern in PSG about their injuries and players playing in Africa, and as of right now, PSG is missing 11 players, including Messi, Neymar, Mbappe, Hakimi, and Di Maria. I don’t doubt PSG will win the Ligue 1, but I just can’t see them as the favorites in the Champions League, despite having such an atomic offense, an offense that hasn’t been producing much lately.

This is a derby in France, and both teams are missing a big number of players, especially PSG. We usually see a lot of goals in this matchup, and I think it will be the same here, but taking over 2.5 is too expensive so I will stretch that to 3.
