Manchester City vs. Chelsea 5/29/21 UEFA Champions League Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Manchester City and Chelsea are clashing at Estadio do Dragao in the UEFA Champions League finals.

City has won the EPL title a while ago, which is why they were a bit sloppy in their last 4 games, but they were still able to win 2 of those 4 games. In their last EPL game, City was playing against Everton at home, and I gotta say, I wasn’t expecting the game they have. Manchester City was the dominant team in that match with 67% of ball possession, 11 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, 5 big chances created, and a high 92% of the correct passes. Everything City did in this game was fantastic, and Everton wasn’t able to get close to them. City has won this game 5-0. As far as the Champions League goes, City has been dominant in this competition as well, and they have beaten PSG in the semifinals. Torres and Mahrez have each scored 4 goals for City in the Champions League, while De Bruyne added 3 goals and 4 assists. There are no injuries or suspensions in Manchester City. What Bayern was last season, City is this season, dominant team in the attacking end, and a fantastic team on the defensive end. If City were to win the Champions League, it would be well-deserved, and I hope they do because they have been playing fantastic soccer throughout the entire season.

Chelsea is in worse form than City, and they have lost 3 of their last 4 games, and they have scored only 3 goals during this streak. Despite their loss in the last EPL game, Chelsea has ended in 4th place with 67 points, but the outcome would have been different if Leicester has won their game. Chelsea was playing against Aston Villa in that game, and they were the dominant team with 72% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 9 corner kicks, 7 big chances created, and 89% of the correct passes. In the 52nd minute, Chelsea was losing 2-0, but they were able to score a goal in the 70th minute. Aston Villa was defending well for the rest of the match, and Chelsea has lost this game 2-1. In their last few games, Chelsea has had a lot of problems in the attacking end, more so than usual, and if they can’t score against Manchester City, I’m not sure their defense will save them. Giroud is the leading goalscorer for City with 6 goals, while Werner added 4 goals and 2 assists. Another problem for Chelsea is that their starting goalkeeper Mendy and defensive midfielder Kante are still questionable for this game, and that is a massive problem for coach Tuchel. Overall, Chelsea has had a fantastic season and they will be playing in the Champions League regardless of the result here, but winning the Champions League would be impressive for this young and talented team.

The trends are on Chelsea’s side in this matchup, but since this is the Champions League finals, I won’t even bother with that. These are both fantastic teams, but City is in better form, and they are playing better soccer overall. We will probably receive the news about Mendy and Kante late Friday night or Saturday morning, but even with two of them in the lineup, I see Manchester City winning this game.
