Manchester City is hosting Leicester City at Etihad Stadium on Boxing Day in round 19 of the English Premier League. City has been outstanding as of late, they are on a big winning streak in the EPL, and they are scoring a lot of goals. Leicester has been hot and cold in the EPL this season, they are struggling defensively, and they have a lot of injuries.
In their last 3 games, City has scored 12 goals while keeping all 3 clean sheets, and I gotta say, they have been impressive. City is also at the top of the table in the EPL with 44 points, and in addition to their offense picking up, their defense is the best in the league with only 9 conceded goals. Bernardo Silva has been outstanding for City with 7 scored goals so far this season, while Sterling has added 5 goals. Jesus has 7 assists. Torres and Walker are injured, but Torres has agreed to a deal with Barcelona and will be leaving in January. Being at the top of the table at Christmas in the EPL is crucial, and even though they are still a lot of games, left, this will make Manchester City’s job a lot easier, and they are the biggest favorites to win the title.
Leicester is now in 9th place in the EPL standings with 22 points, and offensively, they are doing great, but their defense hasn’t been great this season. a big part of Leicester’s problem is all the injuries they have had this season, and they just can’t get ahead of them this season. Leicester has conceded 27 goals in 16 games. In the EFL Cup earlier this week, Leicester was playing against Liverpool, and they lost that game after a penalty shootout, but overall, it was a good performance from Leicester. Also, Leicester’s two last EPL games have been postponed, and even though this one is still scheduled, I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets postponed as well. Vardy is once again the leading goalscorer for Leicester with 9 goals. Justin, Fofana, and Evans are injured, while there are a lot of players still in the covid protocol as of right now. I will always admire Leicester for what they did a few seasons ago, and they are not your typical EPL team wasting money on players, and I love them because of that, I just hope they can end this season a bit higher than they are right now.
It’s hard to et against Manchester City right now, but there is no value in betting on them. I will try to find a market on goals in this game, and that will be first-half goals. I think this will be a fun game with a lot of chances, and I think they will start early.
