Manchester United and Leicester City are clashing at Old Trafford in round 31 of the English Premier League. Manchester United is trying to catch up to the top 4 in the EPL, and now that they are knocked out of the Champions League, they can focus on the EPL. Leicester has been very hot and cold this season, they have a lot of injuries, but they can still score goals.
In their last 5 games, United has won only 1 game, and that was against Tottenham. In the Champions League, United was playing Atletico Madrid in the knockouts, and after playing 1-1 in the first leg, they ended up losing 0-1 in the second leg. With 50 points, United is in 6th place, they have a lot of talent on both ends, but they are definitely not showing it. Ronaldo is the leading goalscorer for Manchester United with 12 goals, while Fernandes has added 9 goals. Pogba has added 9 assists. Luke Shaw is the only injured player right now for United. As I’ve mentioned, United is playing only in the EPL for the rest of the season, they are working on signing the new head coach and some players, and hopefully, they can have a better next season than this one was.
Leicester has been playing better lately, especially in the attacking end where they have been scoring a lot of goals. In their last 7 games, Leicester has 5 wins and 2 losses, and they have advanced to the next stage of the Conference League where they will face PSV. In the EPL, Leicester is in 10th place with 36 points, which is pretty far away from the Europa League spot. I did mention Leicester’s defense, and that was their biggest problem for most of the season. Leicester has conceded 46 goals so far this season. in the attacking end, Leicester is a different story, and they have scored a solid 42 goals. I think Leicester would have scored a lot more goals if they hadn’t had so many injuries and if Vardy was healthier. Vardy is Leicester’s leading goalscorer with 10 goals, while Maddison has added 8 goals. Bertrand, Vardy, Ndidi, Ward, and Albrighton are all injured. It’s hard to play in multiple competitions while having so many injuries, which is what Leicester is doing, and they have been doing it well.
United hasn’t won any of their last 3 games against Leicester, and this one will be tough as well. United does have more depth and a bit more quality, but Leicester is a tough team with a lot of fight in them.
