Newcastle United and Leeds United face off on Friday in an English Premier League showdown at St. James Park. When these two teams faced off in January it was Leeds United that came away with the 2-1 victory.
Newcastle United currently sits in 19th place in the standings having picked up only one point so far this year. Newcastle United’s offense has had some issues so far this year, and the defense hasn’t been great either. Over the last two games, Newcastle has given up six goals, including the last game against Manchester United where they gave up four goals. Newcastle only had 35 percent of the possession, and only three of their shots went on target. Javier Manquillio was the goal scorer putting one in the back of the net in the 56th minute. In this game, Newcastle needs the defense to be better and they can’t fall behind.
Leeds United has also had some struggles this year sitting in 17th place in the standings having picked up only two points this year. Leeds United also had a tough matchup in their last game going against Liverpool. The defense wasn’t any good in that game, giving up three goals, and they couldn’t find the back of the net. Pascal Struijk also picked up a red card in the 60th minute, and he won’t be available in this game. Two games ago against Burnley, Leeds was able to pick up a point. The best player on this team is Patrick Bamford, and he scored the goal against Burnley.
I don’t really trust either offense, and I think especially Leeds United is going to go in a defensive shape to try and limit chances for Newcastle United. Neither team is going to have good scoring chances and the under will cash.
