Paraguay and Uruguay face off on Thursday in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying game at General Pablo Rojas. When these two teams faced off in January of 2021 it was Uruguay that won 1-0. In that game Paraguay failed to get a shot on goal.
Uruguay comes into this sitting in 7th place in the standings having picked up 16 points. Uruguay has lost four games in a row and during that stretch of games, they have only scored one goal total. In the last game against Bolivia, the defense really struggled giving up three goals. Uruguay had 17 shots but only four shots on goal and none found the back of the net. This is an Uruguay offense that isn’t very good, but the defense at times hasn’t really given them a shot and if they want any chance the defense is going to need to be good.
On the other side of this matchup is Paraguay who sits in 9th place in the standings having picked up 13 points. Paraguay has also really struggled coming into this game and over the last five games they have failed to find the back of the net. In the last game against Colombia, Paraguay only had 35 percent of the possession and they didn’t put any shots on goal. Andres Cubas also picked up a red card in the last game and he won’t be available for this game.
These are two offenses that are really struggling coming into this game and I expect both teams are going to struggle to get good scoring chances. I actually don’t expect either offense to find the back of the net and the under is going to cash. I am also throwing a few dollars on the exact score of 0-0 to cash.
