Rayo Vallecano is hosting Sevilla at Estadio de Vallecas in round 28 of the Spanish LaLiga. Rayo was great in the first half of the season, but they are in bad form now, and they are not doing so well. Sevilla is still trying to keep up with Real Madrid, and they are doing well, for now.
Rayo hasn’t won any of their last 7 games, while they have lost their last 3 homes games in a row. Nothing is working for Rayo Vallecano right now, but I think they have done enough to stay in LaLiga for next season as well. Rayo is now in 14th place with 31 points. Offensively, Rayo hasn’t done a lot, they have scored only 28 goals in 26 games, but their defense was pretty solid with only 32 conceded goals. In their last 5 games, Rayo Vallecano has scored only 2 goals, while they have conceded goals in each of their last 7 games. Marquelanz is now the only injured player for Rayo, but Catena is suspended because of the yellow cards. Lopez and Falcao are both still questionable. Speaking of Falcao, he is Rayo’s leading goalscorer with 5 goals, while Garcia has added 5 goals and 3 assists. Even though Rayo is safe for now, they could still get themselves in danger if they don’t snap out of this bad form.
Sevilla is now in 2nd place in LaLiga with 55 points, which is 8 points less than Real Madrid, but they are still playing against them, and they could still catch up to them. In the Europa League, Sevilla has beaten West Ham earlier this week, but it was only 1-0 which probably won’t be enough for them to advance to the next stage. Defensively, Sevilla is the best team in the league with only 18 conceded goals, while their offense is not bad, but they are not scoring as much as they did in the first half of the season. There are a lot of questionable players in Sevilla, but only Suso is now injured. Rafa Mir is the leading goalscorer for Sevilla with 8 goals, while Ocampos has added 5 goals. Overall, Sevilla is one of the best teams in the league, they are definitely one of the favorites to win the Europa League, but they need to take this one game at a time otherwise they might lose focus and drop some points where they shouldn’t.
Vallecano is a decent team, but their current form won’t let them do much damage here to Sevilla. The best defense in the league means much to Sevilla, but they need to get their offense back, and they need to do it fast if they want to catch up to Real Madrid. I’m taking Sevilla on the money line here.
