Real Sociedad vs. Sevilla 7/16/20 LaLiga Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Real Sociedad is hosting Sevilla at Real Arena in another derby of round 37 in Spanish LaLiga.

Real Sociedad is a good team, but in a terrible form since the restart. Sociedad is still in play for the Europa League as they are in 7th place with 54 points, same as Getafe in 6th place, and only 3 points less than Villarreal in 5th place. With 55 scored goals, Sociedad has been one of the best offensive teams this season, but their defense has failed them as of late, and Sociedad has conceded 47 goals so far. In their last 4 games, Sociedad has only 1 loss, alongside 2 wins and a draw, and their form is clearly rising, but it might not be enough for Sociedad to get to the Europa League, but it might enough for them to win Copa del Rey once the date is set. In their latest LaLiga game against Villarreal on the road, Sociedad was solid with 48% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 10 corner kicks, and 81% of the correct passes. This was one of the best games Sociedad has played this season, and they have deservedly so won this match 1-2. Jose has scored 11 goals for Sociedad so far, while Oyarzabal added 10 goals and 12 assists, and Isak has 9 goals. Guevera, Sangalli, Illarramendi, Januzaj, and Bautista are all injured and will not be in the lineup for this game. Sociedad has 2 hard games left this season, and even though they need at least one win, it will be really hard considering their shaky form since the restart.

Sevilla is still undefeated since the restart, and they are on a 4-game winning streak during which Sevilla scored 8 goals and conceded only 1 goal. Overall, Sevilla is one of the most balanced teams in LaLiga with 53 scored goals and only 34 conceded goals. With 66 points, Sevilla is in 4th place, the same number of points as Atletico in third place. Sevilla will get to the Champions League, and it really doesn’t matter if it’s going to be from third or fourth place, but to end the season in third place sounds a lot better than to end it in fourth place. Ocampos is Sevilla’s top goalscorer with 14 goals, while De Jong added 6 goals. Banega and Navas both have 7 assists. Corchia is the only injured player for Sevilla. In their last LaLiga game against Mallorca at home, Sevilla was the better team with 63% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, and 86% of the correct passes. With one goal in each half, Sevilla has won this game 2-0. Overall, this was a good season for Sevilla, and they completely deserve to get into the Champions League, but after LaLiga is over, Sevilla will still have a chance to win the Europa League where they will face Roma in the knockout stage in early August.

The trends are mixed here, but Sevilla hasn’t lost any of their last 15 games. Sociedad was dominant at home, but this match could easily go either way. I will give it a shot at a draw here.
