Saudi Arabia is playing against Germany at Nissan Stadium in round 2 of Group D in the Olympics 2021 soccer tournament. Saudi Arabia is one of the weakest teams in this tournament, and they have lost their first match. Germany has a solid team, but they have had a terrible game against Brazil in round 1.
Saudi Arabia was playing against Ivory Coast in their tournament opener, and they actually have had a really good game with 58% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, 0 big chances created, and a decent 85% of the correct passes. After scoring an own goal and giving Ivory Coast the lead, Saudi Arabia scored a tying goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately for Saudi Arabia, Ivory Coast was better in the second half, and they ended up losing this game 2-1. The only goalscorer for Saudi Arabia is Al-Dawsari. Saudi Arabia still has a chance at getting through the group stage, but I think they will need at least 4 points, and I don’t think Saudi Arabia can do that.
As I’ve mentioned, Germany has a solid team filled with young and talented players, but they were incredibly sloppy in their game against Brazil a few days ago. Germany has had 48% of ball possession in that game, 4 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 83% of the correct passes. The German defense was just horrible in the first half, and they have conceded 3 goals. In the 57th minute, Germany has finally scored a goal, while scoring the second goal in the 84th minute, and this game was tight once again. In the 95th minute, Germany has conceded another goal, and they ended up losing this game 4-2. Germany has lost more than a game here because Arnold conceded a red card, and he will miss this game because of it. Amiri and Ache have each scored 1 goal for Germany so far. With 0 points and a negative goal difference, Germany is in the last place in this group, and they will need both wins if they want to advance through. There have been some good moments for Germany in their first game, but they will need a lot more in their last 2 games.
Germany is the better team here, that is clear, but as we saw in Saudi Arabia’s first game, they can score goals. I gotta go with Germany here because they need a win, and I think they will get it.
