Serbia vs. Switzerland 12/2/22 World Cup Soccer Picks, Predictions, Odds

Serbia and Switzerland face off on Friday in a World Cup Group G soccer showdown at Stadium 974.

Switzerland currently sits in second place in the group, having picked up three points. In the first game of the World Cup, Switzerland was able to beat Cameroon 1-0. Breel Embolo scored in the 48th minute to secure the victory. In the last game against Brazil, the defense wasn’t awful, but they ended up losing 1-0. Switzerland did have 46 percent of the possession, but they had zero shots on target. Noah Okafor is dealing with a muscle injury, and it’s unclear if he’s going to be able for selection in this game. Switzerland should only need a point in this game, so it’s expected that they are going to take a defensive approach in this game to find success.

On the other side of this matchup is Serbia, who sits in 4th place in the group having picked up one point. Serbia opened up the World Cup with a 2-0 defeat by Brazil, and in the last game against Cameron, the game ended in a 3-3 draw. Serbia had 60 percent of the possession and five shots on target. At one point, Serbia was up 3-1, but they gave up two goals after the 63rd minute, and only picked up a point. Aleksandar Mitrovic is back in full fitness, and he’s expected to play in this game. They are going to need him to have a strong game here. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is also going to be a key for Serbia on the front line.

Switzerland’s defense has been strong heading into this game and the success will continue here. Switzerland only gave up one goal to Brazil, and there is no reason that they shouldn’t be able to keep a clean sheet against Serbia. Switzerland’s offense isn’t exactly going to be elite either, and this game is going to be lower scoring. This game is going to finish 1-0 or 0-0. Back the under here.
