Southampton and Manchester United face off on Sunday in an English Premier League showdown at St. Mary’s Stadium. Manchester United has won the last two games against Southampton. The last time these two teams faced off Manchester United came away with the 9-0 victory.
Manchester United has high expectations coming into this season, and they were very impressive in the first game. The offense was elite in the first game scoring five goals and that led to the four goal victory against Leeds United. Bruno Fernandes started the goal scoring early in the last game putting a goal in the back of the net in the 30th minute. Fernandes also added another two goals for the hat trick. Mason Greenwood and Fred also added a goal each. Manchester United put eight shots on goal even though they only had 48 percent of the possession. In this game for Manchester United it’s going to be about the offense getting going early.
Southampton opened up their season against Everton, and it didn’t go as planned losing 3-1. Southampton scored the first goal in the 22nd minute by Adam Armstrong but then the defense really started to struggle. Everton scored three goals starting in the 47th minute and that led to the defeat. Southampton only had six shots total, and only three of those went on net. Southampton did have 52 percent of the possession, and they are going to need that number to be even higher to have a chance in this game.
Manchester United is going to run up the score and this game is going to get ugly early. Look for Southampton’s defense to have no answer, and Manchester United will win this game in blowout fashion. Back Manchester United -1.5
