VfL Bochum is welcoming RB Leipzig to Vonovia Ruhrstadion in round 24 of the German Bundesliga. Bochum is on a nice run, they have had some great results as of late, and their form is pretty good right now. Leipzig has advanced past the playoff round in the Europa League, they were great against Sociedad on the road, and their overall form has improved a lot.
Bochum has had an impressive win a couple of weeks ago against Bayern, and they destroyed them 4-2. In their last game, Bochum was playing against Stuttgart on the road, and that game has ended in a 1-1 draw. As far as the Bundesliga standings go, Bochum is in 11th place with 29 points, and that is 7 points away from the relegation zone, and I suspect that will be enough to stay in Bundesliga. Now, offensively, Bochum is not doing a lot, they have scored only 25 goals, but their defense is pretty solid with 33 conceded goals in 23 games. The good news for Bochum is they are getting to some easier games after this one, and I think they can continue their good streak. Bochum’s only hope was to stay in Bundesliga after this season, but it seems they can do better.
Leipzig has been on a great run, and they have lost only 1 of their last 9 games, while not losing any of their last 5 games. In the first leg of the Europa League playoffs, Leipzig tied with Sociedad at home, but in the second leg, they were brilliant on the road, and they have won that game. In Bundesliga, Leipzig is now in 6th place with 37 points, but I think they could climb a spot or two once they get a win here. On both ends, Leipzig is doing a good job, and Nkunku is their leading goalscorer with 13 goals and 7 assists. Halstenberg is now the only injured player for Leipzig. Over the next few weeks, Leipzig has some easier games, but in the Europa League, Leipzig has drawn Spartak Moscow. There has been a weird line movement in the books on this game, but I think it’s in our favor.
Bochum has always lost to Leipzig in their past matchups, and I think they will lose again. Yes, Bochum is in good form right now, but Leipzig is better, they have more quality, and this line movement is allowing us to play it a bit safer now.
