VfL Wolfsburg is hosting Bayer Leverkusen at Volkswagen Arena in round 27 of the German Bundesliga. Wolfsburg has climbed out of the relegation zone, but the battle is not over for them just yet. Leverkusen is in a slump right now, they are not scoring as many goals as they can, and they have lost Wirtz last weekend.
Wolfsburg is now in 12th place with 31 points, they have scored only 29 goals, while they have conceded 40 goals in 26 games. Overall, this season has been one big disappointment for Wolfsburg, but if they stay outside the relegation zone, they will be happy. In their last 6 games, Wolfsburg has 3 wins, 2 losses, and a draw, which is a whole lot better than they had before. There are still a few injuries in Wolfsburg, but they are managing it somehow. Nmecha is now the leading goalscorer for Wolfsburg with 6 goals, while Philipp has 4 assists. Wolfsburg still has to play against Bayern and Borussia Dortmund this season, which means they need to win some more points before that, otherwise, they might find themselves in the relegation zone once again.
Leverkusen is now on a 3-game losing streak, they got knocked out of the Europa League by Atalanta earlier this week, and they are close to dropping out of the top 4 in Bundesliga. Overall, Leverkusen is one of the best offensive teams in the league with 64 scored goals, but they are conceding an awfully lot of goals, 41 in 26 games. I mentioned Leverkusen losing Wirtz last weekend in their Bundesliga game, and the season is over for him, but the good news is his ligaments were not thorn. Schick is no longer on the injury list, but I doubt he will play the entire match here. Despite missing a few of their last games, Schick is still the leading goalscorer for Leverkusen with 20 goals, while Diaby has added 12 goals and 6 assists. The morale is not great in Leverkusen right now, they are out of the Europa League, which means Bundesliga is their only competition left, and they have now lost their best player in Florian Wirtz. Tough times for Bayer Leverkusen.
It’s a weird thing to say, but Wolfsburg is now in better form than Leverkusen is, and I think they will get the win here. Leverkusen’s best form in combination with fatigue, yeah, I’m going with Wolfsburg.
