Villarreal is hosting RCD Mallorca at Estadio de la Ceramica in round 22 of the Spanish LaLiga. Villarreal was on a nice run, they were playing great, but they lost to Elche last weekend. Mallorca is on a 3-game losing streak in LaLiga, but they have been successful in Copa del Rey in their last game.
Villarreal is slowly climbing the standings, at least they were, but they are now without a win in their last 3 games while losing 2 of those 3 games. In their last game against Elche, Villarreal was solid, but not good enough to get a win or to score a goal at least. Thanks to their positive run before this, Villarreal has gotten a bit close to the Europa League, and they are now in 8th place with 29 points. Offensively, Villarreal is great with 33 scored goals, and their defense is not bad either, but they are conceding at the wrong times. Moreno has 8 goals to his name for Villarreal so far, and he is their leading goalscorer, while Danjuma added 5 goals. Parejo has 6 assists. Villareal has to bounce back after that unfortunate loss, and they are getting a good opponent in this game, and they are playing at home.
Mallorca has had some positive results as of late, but they are still very close to the relegation zone. Mallorca is in 16th place with 20 points, and the only thing keeping them outside the relegation zone is the fact that all the bottom teams are terrible. Mallorca is struggling on both ends, they are not scoring a lot, while their defense is like Swiss cheese. With only 17 scored goals and 30 conceded goals, Mallorca is one of the weakest teams in the league. Rodriguez is the leading goalscorer for Mallorca with 3 goals. There are a couple of injuries in Mallorca right now, but nothing too bad. The schedule is not Mallorca’s friend this season, and they have a few tough games in a row to play over the next few weeks. As I’ve mentioned, Mallorca is outside the relegation zone right now, but that could change quickly, and unless Mallorca starts winning some points, it will be a very hard second half of the season for them.
When playing at home, Villarreal has not lost to Mallorca in their last 9 games, and I think it will stay that way. Villarreal is the better team here, and I see them bouncing back nicely.
