Milos Raonic vs. Novak Djokovic French Open Pick, Odds, Prediction

2014 French Open: Tuesday, June 3, 2014 (Stade Roland Garros)

The Line: Novak Djokovic See the Latest Odds

Milos Raonic and Novak Djokovic will battle it out for a spot in the semifinals of the 2014 French Open.

Raonic is one of the best up-and-coming players on tour and has proven himself quite a bit in this tournament, winning three of his four matches in straight sets. Gilles Simon is the only player who was able to push Raonic, eventually losing in five sets. Raonic is only a 23-year-old and this is by far he’s ever reached in a Grand Slam event. However, don’t let the young age fool you, as Raonic has already won five career titles and has won more than 65 percent of his career matches. Raonic has an extremely strong serve that gives even the best players in the world fits.

Milos Raonic vs. Novak Djokovic French Open Pick, Odds, Prediction

Djokovic has won 12 of 13 sets in this tournament and absolutely destroyed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in straight sets. Djokovic is clearly hungry for another French Open title and he has a good shot considering he’s reached at least the semifinals in three straight years. The only person to take a set from Djokovic so far in this tournament has been Marin Cilic and that came in a tiebreak. Djokovic appears to be in top form and due to playing very quick matches, he’s as dangerous as ever.

These two players have only played one time and that wasn’t too long ago, as Djokovic won their 2014 matchup in Rome in three sets. Raonic’s serve gave Djokovic problems, forcing two tiebreaks in the first two sets.

This has the potential to be an interesting match and Raonic does have a slight chance of even pulling off the upset. However, Djokovic is playing as well as he has all year and he’s well rested due to such quick matches. While Raonic is a promising player, I feel he’s in way over his head at this stage of his career.

Give me Djokovic minus the points.

I don't think Raonic can last 4/5 sets against a heavyweight just yet. His level of play tends to dip after the first set or two and you can't di that with Djokovic.
The only way he's winning is if he takes the first two. I'm saying Nole in 4 sets.
