The Line: Novak Djokovic See the Latest Odds
Novak Djokovic and Grigor Dimitrov will meet in the 2014 Wimbledon semifinals.
Djokovic is one win away from reaching his fourth Grand Slam final in his last five events. But it certainly won’t be easy considering Djokovic has shown a little bit of shaky play, especially in his last match. After winning the first set 6-1 against Marin Cilic, he lost back-to-back sets and needed to win the match in five. It was certainly the biggest scare for Djokovic in this tournament and was a quick reminder to backers that even the best in the world can go down at any moment. It’s going to be interesting to see how Djokovic rebounds from that performance, as he won his next two matches in three sets after having some issues with Radek Stepanek in the second round. Djokovic has been eliminated in the Wimbledon semifinals twice in the last four years.

If you thought Rafael Nadal going down was a shocker, Dimitrov eliminated Andy Murray in three quick sets. He needed one tiebreak, but the other two sets needed no more than eight games to be decided. Dimitrov now has the biggest upset of the tournament under his belt and has reached his first Grand Slam semifinal of his career. Dimitrov admitted that he could sense Murray wasn’t on the top of his game before the match started and proved it by winning the first set in 25 minutes. Now, he has another tall task standing in front of his first Grand Slam final of his young career.
These two have played three times and while Djokovic has won two of those matches, Dimitrov won the most recent, which was a 2013 meeting at the Madrid Masters. This will be the first time the two have played one another on grass.
As usual, you have to worry about a letdown with Dimitrov, considering the win over Murray was likely the biggest of his career. However, Djokovic has left the door open at times in this tournament. While I don’t think Dimitrov can win this match, he can certainly keep it close if he plays as well as he did on Wednesday.
Give me Dimitrov and the points.
