Eugenie Bouchard vs. Petra Kvitova 2014 Wimbledon Pick, Odds, Prediction

2014 Wimbledon: Saturday, July 5, 2014 (London)

The Line: Petra Kvitova -130 See the Latest Odds

Eugenie Bouchard and Petra Kvitova will play Saturday in the 2014 Wimbledon final.

We knew Bouchard was on the rise at the young age of 20 years old, but she’s taken off probably a little quicker than expected. Participating in just her second Wimbledon, Bouchard will play in her first Grand Slam final and has yet to lose a set in this tournament. Not only did she surprise Angelique Kerber in the quarterfinals, but Simona Halep didn’t stand much of a chance either. The moment doesn’t seem too big for Bouchard with the way she’s playing, and she’s needed only two tiebreaks 12 sets of tennis. Bouchard is playing the best tennis of her young career and almost looks unbeatable, especially if she can continue to limit her unforced errors. Bouchard can become a household name with a victory here.

Eugenie Bouchard vs. Petra Kvitova 2014 Wimbledon Pick, Odds, Prediction

Unlike Bouchard, Kvitova is no stranger to the Wimbledon, as this is her second Wimbledon final in the last four years. She won the title in 2011 and can join some pretty sweet company if she can get the job done here. Kvitova has a solid shot considering she’s lost only one set the entire tournament, which came against Venus Williams in the third round. Her toughest opponent was Lucie Safarova in the semifinals, and she won only seven games. Kvitova is flying through this tournament and seems to be getting stronger as the match goes on, as she’s allowed two or less games in the second set to her opponent in four of her six matches.

The only time these two have played was in the 2013 Canadian Masters, a match Kvitova won in straight sets. Of course, that was played on hard surface and Bouchard has improved her game drastically since then.

This is going to be a very interesting match that is almost certain to go the distance with the way both ladies are playing at an elite level. And while it could go either way, I’m going to pick Bouchard to get the victory. She’s simply playing out of her mind lately and has beaten tougher competition, including four Top 25 players in her last four matches. Also, this has been the year of surprises with Li Na winning the Australian Open and Halep reaching the French Open.

If me Bouchard for her first Grand Slam title.
