Jiri Vesely and James Ward meet Thursday in the second round of the 2015 Wimbledon.
Jiri Vesely is coming off a straight set victory over Paolo Lorenzi, which took over two and a half hours to finish. Vesely got 64 percent of his first serves in play and won 77 percent of those points. Vesely won 65 percent of his net points and was broken just once in the match. Vesely had 14 aces, 53 winners and had an impressive 17 unforced errors. Vesely played a great, clean match and it was the type of performance that could get more people to notice the 21-year-old. The one concern is that Vesely must do a better job breaking the serve of his opponents. Vesely has reached the third round of a grand slam just once in his career, which was last years Wimbledon.

James Ward is coming off a four set victory over Luca Vanni, as he won the last three sets. Ward got 63 percent of his first serves in play and won 81 percent of those points. Ward won 69 percent of his net points and broke on four of his seven chances. Ward had 12 aces, 41 winners and kept his unforced errors to 21. Ward played a very impressive match and showed resolve after dropping the first set in a long and tiring tiebreak. This is just the second time Ward has ever reached the second round of a grand slam. Ward has never reached the third round of a grand slam.
This will be the first time these two have ever played one another.
This is an interesting between two players looking to take that next step in their careers. This match could really go either way, but Ward has far more experience and I think that will help here.
