Rafael Nadal and Dustin Brown meet Thursday in the second round of the 2015 Wimbledon.
Rafael Nadal is coming off a straight sets victory over Thomaz Bellucci, which took just over two hours to finish. Nadal got 59 percent of his first serves in play and won 65 percent of those points. Nadal won 89 percent of his net points and broke 50 percent of his chances. Overall, Nadal had one ace, 21 winners and just 23 unforced errors. Overall, it was a decent performance from Nadal, but he’s still capable of playing far better. Nadal can’t continue to have five double faults and get less than 60 percent of his first serves in play. Nadal hasn’t been bounced in the second round of a grand slam since the 2012 Wimbledon. Still, Nadal hasn’t had much recent success at this tournament.

Dustin Brown is coming off a four set victory over Yen-Hsun Lu, which took just over two hours. Brown got 62 percent of his first serves in play and won 81 percent of those points. Brown won 62 percent of his net points and broke on four of his 13 chances. Overall, Brown had 16 aces, 61 winners and 34 unforced errors. Brown was hitting his spots with ease and showed great power when he needed to. Overall, it was a great performance from Brown and gets him out of the first round of a grand slam for the first time in two years. Brown has reached the third round of a grand slam just once in his career, which was the 2013 Wimbledon.
Brown beat Nadal in their only previous meeting, which took place in the 2014 Halle Open. Nadal lost the match in straight sets and won just five games. Of course, this will be the second time these two will meet on grass.
I find this match interesting simply because Nadal hasn’t been his usual self in quite some time and could struggle against the power of Brown. After all, he did beat Nadal recently. I like the points here.
