Roger Federer is coming off a straight sets win over Andy Murray, which lasted two hours. Federer has dropped just one set this tournament and has played about three and a half hours his last two matches. Federer has won at least 79 percent of his first serve points and 55 percent of his second serve points. Federer has combined for 31 aces and 92 winners in his last two matches. Federer has also played flawless tennis this tournament and is finishing his points quickly, which will help with fatigue heading into this match. Federer has had 12 or less unforced errors in five of his six matches. This is Federer’s third grand slam final appearance since 2012. Federer looks to win his eighth Wimbledon title.
These two have played 39 times in the past, and Federer has won 20 of those meetings. The most recent match was in this year’s Rome Masters, a match Djokovic won in straight sets. This will be the fourth time this year these two have played, and Djokovic has won five of the last eight meetings overall. This will be just the third time these two met on grass, and both won one of the previous matches.
This should be a hell of a match as both guys are playing elite tennis and are in rare form. However, Djokovic has a recent history of folding in final appearances, and Federer is probably looking at this as his last real shot to win another grand slam. I like Fed to pull this one out.
