The Line: -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Pablo Cuevas and Gael Monfils meet Monday afternoon in the third round of the Miami Masters.
Pablo Cuevas is coming off a straight sets win over John Millman that was decided in 22 games. Cuevas has been playing some really good tennis as of late, which includes titles in the Rio Open and the Brasil Open. Cuevas, who is once again a top-30 player, has now won 10 of his last 11 singles matches. However, while Cuevas is playing terrific tennis right now and experiencing success, it’s important to note that his game best suites clay courts, and he’s had a long history of struggling on hard court. This will be a nice and interesting test for the 30-year-old. Cuevas has never made it out of the third round of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000.

Gael Monfils is coming off a straight sets win over Tatsuma Ito that was decided in 17 games. Monfils has now won 13 of his last 17 matches and seems to be a little more focused and determined than we’ve seen from him in the past. Monfils has made at least the quarterfinals in three of his last four events, and we’re getting far less antics from the Frenchman. We all know how talented Monfils is, and if he can continue to play with a level head and not give away points, he’s easily one of the more dangerous players on the men's side. Monfils has made the fourth round of the Miami Masters three times in his career.
These two have played twice in the past, and Monfils has won both meetings. The most recent match was in last year’s French Open, a match that was decided in five sets. This will be the second time Monfils and Cuevas meet on hard court.
I’m a big fan of Monfils, and with the way he’s playing so far in 2016, you have to like his chances against a guy who plays his best tennis on clay.
I like Monfils to get another victory, as he tries to inch closer to a top-10 ranking.
