Murray has really bounced back strong after some struggles since the Australian Open, and he’s looking for his third finals appearance of the season. This is Murray’s second semifinals appearance in the Rome Masters, and he looks for his first finals appearance. Murray’s other Rome Masters semis appearance came back in 2011.

Lucas Pouille is coming off a walkthrough over Juan Monaco, who had to withdraw due to injury. Even without a recent match, Pouille is coming off a straight sets win over David Ferrer and has beaten him twice since the Miami Masters. Pouille has now won seven of his last nine matches when you include qualifying, and his current 52nd spot in the rankings is the highest of his young career. The 22-year-old would love nothing more than to be the No. 2 player in the world, as it would certainly be the biggest moment of his young career. This is by far the furthest Pouille has ever made it in a big tournament. Before this, it was a fourth round appearance in this year's Miami Masters.
These two have never played each other in the past.
It’s very tough to bet against Murray in his current form, and it’s even tougher to call an upset when Pouille has never been in a match this big. The only thing really going for Pouille is that he’s the more rested player after not having to play a match. Still, Murray should reach his first Rome Masters final with ease.
