Carreno vs. Raonic
The Line -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Milos Raonic and Pablo Carreno Busta square off early in the first round of the 2016 Wimbledon.
Milos Raonic enters this tournament in very good form, as he made the fourth round of the French Open and made a final appearance at the Queen's Club Championships. Raonic has now won 11 of his last 15 matches, and he’s back to serving a very high percentage and just overpowering his opponent. Raonic is very tough to beat when his powerful and accurate serve is getting in play, which it has recently. Raonic seems due to have a breakthrough performance at the Wimbledon with this being his sixth appearance. Raonic has not been eliminated in the first round of a grand slam since the 2011 French Open. Raonic has won 12 of his last 16 matches on grass.
USA TODAY Sports
Pablo Carreno Busta has lost three of his last four matches and will be double dipping in this tournament with his partner Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. Despite the recent struggles, Carreno has cracked the top-50 ranking for the first time of his career and has made two final appearances this year, including the Estoril Open. Carreno is having his breakout season at 24 years old, but majority of his career success has come on clay, so it will be interesting to see how he adjusts to the grass court. Either way, Carreno is a young player to watch moving forward. Carreno has made it out of the first round of a grand slam four times in his career. Carreno is 0-4 in his career on grass.
This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.
Carreno was going to have a hard time in this match regardless, but it certainly doesn’t help with his lack of experience or success on grass. Raonic is in good form and should be able to power his way through this match. The margin of error for Carreno is very slim and he won’t be able to keep up.
Give me Raonic in straight sets.
