USA TODAY Sports
Yen-Hsun Lu is coming off a straight sets win over Alexander Kudryavtsev that took an hour and a half to finish. In the victory, Lu won 53 of his 83 first serve points and racked up 29 winners and 13 unforced errors. Lu has to be very confident considering he’s now won 11 straight matches heading into this match. Granted, those wins came in challenger play, but it’s clear the 32-year-old is in good form at the moment and should be ready for the challenge. Lu does have seven wins over top-10 players but none of those have taken place since 2014. Lu looks for his first third round appearance in a grand slam since the 2012 Australian Open. Lu has won 11 straight matches on grass.
These two have played four times in the past and Murray has won three of those matches. The most recent match came in the 2015 Queen's Club Championships, a match Murray won in straight sets. Lu’s lone win over Murray came in the 2008 Olympics. This will be the third match on grass.
Lu is playing good tennis right now and could push Murray to a couple of competitive sets. However, winning simply isn’t happening. Murray is playing some of his best tennis ever right now and is the second favorite to win this tournament.
Give me Murray in straight sets.
