Donaldson vs. Kyrgios
The Line -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Nick Kyrgios and Jared Donaldson meet in the round of 16 at the BB&T Atlanta Open.
Nick Kyrgios looks for a bounce back performance after losing his last two matches, including a first round exit in the Canadian Masters against Denis Shapovalov. Kyrgios hasn’t won a match since the round of 32 in the Wimbledon and has kind of had an up-and-down several months overall. We know Kyrgios has all the talent in the world to become a top-10 player, but he must be more consistent against lesser players and do a better job of keeping his head in the game. This could be a good tournament for Kyrgios to get back on track. Kyrgios has split his last eight matches on hard court.
USA TODAY Sports
Jared Donaldson is coming off a straight sets win over Sam Groth that took 18 games to decide. Donaldson is coming off an impressive victory that was quick and painless, and he now has a shot at possibly the biggest win of his young career. Donaldson has now won seven of his last nine matches when you include qualifying and is ranked 123rd in the world, which is his highest ranking currently at 19 years old. Donaldson is serving well and starting to gain serious confidence as he picks up experience against better competition. Win or lose, this match is another stepping stone for the rising American. Donaldson has won five of his last six matches on hard court.
This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.
Donaldson is quietly climbing in the rankings and could be somebody to watch next season. As for this match, however, Kyrgios should have little trouble. His shotmaking, athleticism and power will be overwhelming for the young Donaldson.
Give me Kyrgios in straight sets.
