Andy Murray and Marin Cilic meet Sunday afternoon in the Cincinnati Masters Final.
Andy Murray is coming off a straight sets win over Milos Raonic that took 18 games to decide. Murray has now won his last 10 sets and still hasn’t lost a singles match since losing the French Open Final. I keep saying over and over that Murray is playing the best tennis of his career, and his shotmaking and defense have been jaw dropping during this stretch. Murray has nothing but titles on his mind right now and is making his eighth finals appearance this season. Murray has a chance to win his fifth title this year when you include the olympic gold medal and his 40th singles title overall. Murray has won 10 straight matches on hard court.

Marin Cilic is coming off a three set victory over Grigor Dimitrov that took 31 games to decide. Cilic showed terrific fight in the victory and was able to bounce back multiple times after being broken in the third set. The only major question with Cilic at this point is how much he has left in the tank with such a quick turnaround taking place here. Cilic has now reached a final for the third time this season and looks for his first title since the 2015 Kremlin Cup. Cilic has two victories this season over top-10 players and 21 for his career. Cilic has won seven of his last eight matches on hard court.
These two have played 13 times in the pst and Murray has won 11 of those meetings. The most recent match was in this year's Aegon Championships, a match Murray won in three sets. Cilic’s two wins over Murray came in the 2014 Rotterdam Open and 2009 US Open.
I’ve said it time and time again; nobody is playing as well as Murray. His serve is on point and his defense is out of this world. Murray’s confidence is also through the roof like never before. Also, Murray had plenty of rest due to playing in the afternoon, while Cilic will have a quick turnaround due to a rain delay that didn’t end his match well past one in the morning. We’re talking less than 15 hours.
Murray wins yet another title.
