The Line: Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

Petra Kvitova and Agnieszka Radwanska meet Friday in the semifinals of the Connecticut Open on ESPN2.

Petra Kvitova is coming off a straight sets win over Ekaterina Makarova that took 16 games to decide. Kvitova has lost just nine games in her last two matches and is serving as well as she has all season. Kvitova is clearly riding the momentum of her olympic success and is extremely confident right now even if she may be a tad fatigue given the workload. This is the third semifinal appearance of the year for Kvitova when you include the olympics, and she’s hitting the ball sharply. Kvitova has won eight of her last 12 semifinal appearances and hopes to make her first final of the season. Kvitova has won 10 of her last 12 matches on hard court.

Petra Kvitova vs. Agnieszka Radwanska 2016 Connecticut Open Semifinal Pick, Odds, Prediction

Agnieszka Radwanska is coming off a straight sets win over Kirsten Flipkens that took 17 games to decide. Radwanska has yet to drop a set this tournament and has lost 11 games in her last two matches. Radwanska looks comfortable out there and is hitting the ball with confidence, but she did have a lot of tape on her shoulder, so there may be some nicks and bruises to worry about. Radwanska has now won eight of her last 11 sets and seems to be gaining positive momentum heading into the US Open. Radwanska has lost four straight semifinals and she hopes to make her second final of the season. Radwanska has won seven of her last 11 matches on hard court.

These two have played 10 times in the past and Kvitova has won six of those matches. The most recent match was in this year Indian Wells Masters, a match Radwanska won in straight sets. Radwanska has beaten Kvitova in three of the last four meetings.

This should be a fun match between two of the better players in the world. However, the difference for me is the recent head to head advantage favoring Radwanska, and the fact Kvitova has been feeling ill since coming over from the olympics.

This match could go either way, but if forced to pick, I’d side with Radwanska.
