Day vs. Keys

Madison Keys and Kayla Day meet in the second round of the 2016 US Open.
Madison Keys is coming off a three set victory over Alison Riske that took 31 games to decide. Fatigue may be an issue for Keys with her match ending way past one in the morning day 1. Keys was able to make a comeback after dropping the first set and struggling big time with her unforced errors. The one thing that has made Keys a top-10 player in the world is the fact she’s been able to control her overwhelming power game, but she clearly is an unfinished product in that department. Still, Keys is very dangerous due to her ability to hit winners whenever she feels like it. Keys has made the third round of a grand slam in seven straight appearances. Keys has won 10 of her last 13 matches on hard court.

Kayla Day is coming off a victory over Madison Brengle after she retired during the second set. Despite the circumstances, it was easily the biggest win of Day’s young career, as she made her WTA debut during the Connecticut Open and is just 16 years old. Anything that comes out of this match is good for Day, as she’s going to gain valuable experience and get ahead of the curve at such a young age. However, Day could pull off the upset if she gets off to a strong start and gets the crowd behind her early. We’ve seen crazier things happen at the US Open. Day has won five of her last eight matches on hard court.
This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.
I haven’t seen much of Day considering she made her WTA debut last week and has one complete match under her belt. Even with that said, Keys should win this match easily. Her power and experience advantages are unmatched. Keys also just beat Riske, a player who knows her so well. That's not the case here.
Keys in straight sets.
