Johanna Konta is coming off a three set win over Madison Keys that took 33 games to decide. Konta has now beaten two ranked players to get to this point and has dropped two sets this tournament. Konta continues to play very clean tennis and is simply getting the ball in play consistently, forcing her opponent to make the extra shot. You could make an argument that Konta has had the best 2016 season of any player on the women's side, as she’s now a top-10 player and still has a chance to clinch a spot in the WTA Finals. Konta has certainly arrived and now has a chance at her biggest victory at 25 years old. Konta has 10 career victories over top-10 players with seven of them coming this season. This is Konta’s second career final appearance with her first coming in this years Stanford Classic. Konta hopes to go two for two in final appearances.
These two have met once in the past, which was in this years Cincinnati Masters, a match Radwanska won in three sets. The match took 29 games to decide.
Konta has made it tough to bet against her, as she’s been solid for quite some time and has clearly established herself as one of the more consistent players at this very moment. Konta is a player to keep a close eye on heading into next season. However, Radwanska hasn’t dropped a set this tournament and has far more experience in these type of matches. Radwanska is also capable of taking her game to another level and has won nine of her last 12 finals.
Konta and the plus money is intriguing, but Radwanska should win this match given her current form.
