Edmund has shown flashes since turning pro six years ago, but he has yet to put together consistent tennis, but this could be a turning point in his young career at 22 years old. Kyle Edmund vs. Ryan Harrison 2017 Atlanta Open Semifinal Pick, Odds, Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

Ryan Harrison is coming off a straight sets win over Christopher Eubanks that took 15 games to decide. In the victory, Harrison won 76 percent of his first serve points and 78 percent of his second serve points. Harrison is coming off a dominating performance in which he lost just eight second serve points while giving himself 12 break chances. Harrison has now had 29 chances to break in his two matches this tournament and has gotten free points with a combined 18 aces. Harrison has certainly had his struggles this season, but he has a chance to make another final appearance in the United States, and he’s always played his best on hard court. Harrison hopes to make his second career final appearance and first since this years Memphis Open. Harrison has split his last 10 matches on hard court.

This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.

This is a nice matchup between two young players who have shown flashes of taking that next step but have had a hard time putting things together for long stretches. This could go either way, but I give the edge to Harrison based on how he’s been returning this tournament and the fact he has the rest / home crowd advantage. Harrison should put pressure on Edmund’s return and do just enough to win a tight match to reach his second final appearance.

Give me the American.
