Alexander Zverev and Kei Nishikori meet in the semifinals of the 2017 Citi Open.

Alexander Zverev is coming off a straight sets win over Daniil Medvedev that took 18 games to decide. In the victory, Zverev won 83 percent of his first serve points and 71 percent of his second serve points. Zverev has won his last five sets played and is coming off a match in which he dropped just 10 service points overall. Zverev continues a season of consistency and is finally showing constant flashes of the player many thought he would become. When Zverev is serving well along with hitting his winners and flashy shots, it’s tough to break his rhythm and his confidence. Zverev has clearly taken his game to another level the last few months. Zverev hopes to make his fifth final appearance this year and eighth for his career. Zverev has won six of his last seven matches on hard court.

Alexander Zverev vs. Kei Nishikori 2017 Citi Open Semifinal Pick, Odds, Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

Kei Nishikori is coming off a three sets win over Tommy Paul that took 32 games to decide. In the victory, Nishikori won 71 percent of his first serve points and 49 percent of his second serve points. Nishikori managed to battle back when he could have easily lost a straight sets match, and he’s shown he’s not going down without a fight. Consistency has been an issue for Nishikori this season, but he’s slowly starting to get his form back and has a shot to reach his first final since February. Nishikori hopes to make his third final appearance of the season and 23rd for his career. Nishikori has won six of his last seven matches on hard court.

This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.

Nishikori is likely going to have nothing left in the tank after playing two matches yesterday and his quarterfinal match being a marathon. Nishikori was sucking wind in the second set of his last match and then had to play a third. His legs are shot. Not to mention Zverev is playing some of the best tennis of his life.

Zverev rolls here.
