Garbine Muguruza and Madison Keys meet in the semifinals of the 2017 Stanford Classic.

Garbine Muguruza is coming off a straight sets win over Ana Konjuh that took 16 games to decide. In the victory, Muguruza won 82 percent of her first serve points and 53 percent of her second serve points. Muguruza has dropped a combined six games in her first two matches and is fresh off a match in which she won 73 percent of her total serve points and wasn’t broken once. Muguruza has picked up right where she left off in the Wimbledon and has dropped just one set in her last nine matches overall. It may be safe to say Muguruza is back to being one of the marquee players in this sport. Muguruza hopes to make her second singles final appearance this year and eighth for her career. Muguruza has won seven of her last nine matches on hard court.

Garbine Muguruza vs. Madison Keys 2017 Stanford Classic Semifinal Pick, Odds, Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

Madison Keys is coming off a straight sets win over Lesia Tsurenko that took 19 games to decide. In the victory, Keys won 82 percent of her first serve points and 44 percent of her second serve points. Keys is still trying to find her form out there since returning from her wrist injury, and this may be the best she's looked so far this season. For Keys, its always been about how she handles her power, as she can hit through anybody, but hitting for broke constantly either wins her or loses matches. So far so good in this tournament. Keys hopes to make her sixth final appearance of her career and first since last years Canadian Open. Keys has won five of her last seven matches on hard court.

These two have played two times and Keys has won both of those meetings. The most recent was in the 2016 Rome Masters, a match Keys won in straight sets. The other match was in Cincinnati of 2012.

Keys is showing flashes of returning to form before her injury and will have a nice crowd advantage here. However, how can anybody bet against Muguruza in her current form? She’s lost just one set in her last nine matches and is hitting the ball with great pace without making many unforced errors. She’s playing the best tennis of anyone on tour right now.

I have no choice but to side with Muguruza.
